Kontent Group reacts to tough times with more staff reductions
Consumer magazine publisher Kontent Group is restructuring with a series of layoffs to “meet and thrive in the new reality of today’s media environment,” according to a release.
Earlier reports sent to Masthead claimed that all full-time staff was fired and that the company’s creative director quit as a result. Kontent later issues a release stating it will be “retaining a minimum of fulltime, salaried staff, while primarily utilizing a stable of freelance services for existing and future projects. It is our plan to have many of these roles fulfilled by our employees who have contributed to our magazine over the years.”
The Toronto-based publisher will continue to publish FQ, SIR and Inside Entertainment magazines and their respective websites and will contract publish International Architecture and Design magazine in partnership with GLP and Sotheby’s International Realty Canada.
“This new approach allows us to access more contributors for our magazine than ever before, increasing and diversifying our voice and allowing us to continue building on the success we’ve achieved,” said Geoffrey Dawe, president and CEO of Kontent Group Inc., in the press release.
