Tribe.ca enlists Magazine Network as media representative
One of Toronto’s largest online communities, Tribe.ca, has signed up with media representative Magazine Network. The Magazine Network represents 22 urban websites across Canada and with the inclusion of Tribe.ca, reaches 1 million unique visitors and 4.5 million page views a month.

“The missing piece for us was connecting Canadian national advertisers with Tribe.ca's reach and high volume of traffic. I gave Magazine Network a call this year to see how they were doing and to see if they were repping any online stuff these days, and sure enough, they were,” said Alex Dordevic, Tribe publisher, in an email interview with Masthead.

Tribe.ca’s online forum started in 1994 and the number of users has grown to 200,000 visitors and 1.2 million monthly page views. Most of the ads were being sold in-house and through Google, which has recently been beta testing its Google Ad Manager (GAM) on the Tribe site. However, Tribe.ca has had difficulty finding national advertisers.

The Magazine Network used to represent the now out of print Tribe Magazine for a number of years. With the new online alliance, the Magazine Network has one of the largest urban markets in Canada reaching millions of 18-44 year old urban readers across the country.

“I really don't have the time or expertise to penetrate the secret world of media buyers and ad agencies to hunt down potential clients. The Magazine Network already have those contacts and know that world well, so I am hoping they can make the connections that can benefit some cool national advertisers as well as Tribe.ca,” said Dordevic.
