Awards round-up: ACE Awards, CSME Editors' Choice, KRWs

There have been plenty of awards handed out to industry folk this week, with two more ceremonies scheduled for later today (PWAC hands out its first-ever Editor of the Year award at a luncheon today while the National Magazine Awards gala takes place tonight). Here's a quick round-up of what's happened so far:

CMC Ace Awards

These awards honour the best in circulation and were handed out at the annual ACE Awards luncheon on Wednesday. Winners:

  • Consumer—Other: Maclean's
  • Consumer—New Gift: The Beaver
  • Consumer—Online: Canadian Business
  • Consumer—Special Achievement: Hello! Canada
  • Caren King Scholarship: Danielle Chartier, Marketing Coordinator for Canada's National History Society
  • 2008 Marketer of the Year: Nancy McCollum, Director of Account Services, Coast To Coast Newsstand Partnership

CSME Editors' Choice Awards

The Canadian Society of Magazine Editors handed out its annual awards for the best in editorial on Wednesday. A special congratulations to Masthead sister title, Design Edge Canada, which was named Trade Magazine of the Year. Other winners:

  • Small magazine (under 49,000): Spacing
  • Mid-size magazine (under 150,000): Profit
  • Large magazine (over 150,000): EnRoute
  • Front of the book: Explore
  • Editor of the Year: Dale Duncan, Spacing
  • Jim Cormier Award for display writing: Derek Webster, Maisonneuve

Kenneth R. Wilson Awards

The best in  the trade press were honoured at a gala dinner that took place Wednesday night. CA Magazine led the way with three golds and four silvers. The complete list of winners and top five finishers can be downloaded in PDF form here.
