Grizzly
The April 2015 issue of Canadian Geographic features a Grizzly Bear as the “celebrity." This cover is pin-up poster quality.
Editor Aaron Kylie says:
“The Canadian Geographic team felt the treatment of the main cover line “GRIZZLY” was very impactful, and combined well with the great direct eye contact of the bear. Add some bold hits of red in the corner slash and the plus sign in the bottom left-hand corner, and we think we’ve got an eye-catching cover that should stand out well on the newsstand. Kudos to art director Javier Frutos, photo editor Jessica Finn, and Don Johnston of Grandmaison Photography for the collaboration.”
Canadian Geographic has historically had success with Bear Covers. Here’s the latest. And then some oldies but goodies. If it works, keep doing it!
