Here are your 2016 COPA winners!
Canada is becoming a global leader in the digital space with a new crop of digital players. The Canadian Online Publishing Awards (COPAs) were held on November 7, 2016 in the Mandarin Room at the Double Tree Hilton hotel in Toronto to a sold out audience that celebrated digital excellence in Canada.
The big winner of the night was the Toronto Star and The Huffington Post with three Gold and two Silver, followed by the National Observer with three Gold and one Silver and tied in third place was Planète F Magazine and the University of British Columbia with two Gold and two Silver.
The National Observer, based in Vancouver, won the Independent Publisher of the year. This year Quebec-based brands won two out of three Best of Canada awards. Le Huffington Post Québec won Gold for Best Digital Content and Chez Soi for Best Digital Solution.
Some other new winners, which were part of new wave of emerging media brands in Canada, included Vice Canada for Best Continuing Coverage and Indie88 a Toronto-based radio station for Best Radio Website.
