Cottage Life debuts augmented reality in Spring issue
 
The spring edition of Cottage Life magazine, which hit newsstands this week, aims to give readers a more interactive experience. The magazine has partnered with Blippar, to bring its pages to life through augmented reality.

Readers are encouraged to download the free Blippar app onto a smartphone or tablet and scan the “blippable” pages to unlock exclusive content, such as plans for a DIY picnic table, a heartwarming video of a dramatic rescue, and a behind the scenes look into the design process for KEEN’s new sandal, Uneek.

“We wanted to build an interactive experience for our loyal print audience that would integrate digital technology and enhance the way they interact with that form of media,” editor Penny Caldwell said. “This partnership with Blippar will not only change the way print magazines are consumed, but also change the way advertisers showcase their products. KEEN, our presenting partner, is our first advertiser to activate its print ad with this technology.”

The western Canada edition of the magazine, Cottage Life West will also feature augmented reality. Cottage Life is a Blue Ant Media publication.
