Seekr Media has launched Embark
, a new digital magazine for fans of interior design and decor with a more cost-effective slant according to publisher Matt Zanzotto.
Zanzotto says North American readers typically live or aspire to live "big" lifestyles, with larger homes to match. But, he notes, as populations increase, living spaces condense (even if prices aren't lowering in kind). Embark
aims to address this lifestyle change by taking inspiration from interior design around the world.
The inaugural edition of Seekr Media's Embark
Zanzotto puts himself in the reader's shoes. "Have you recently renovated your home? It's the worst. I can't design a room for the life of me, and you can quote me on that," he said. "That's exactly what Embark
is about. [Interior design] looks effortless when you see it in pictures, but you can't do it that easily."
"We wanted to let people know that yes, this house can be beautiful. Yes, there are solutions to your space problem," Zanzotto said. The magazine features pieces from the UK, Australia and more. "Its just about understanding the craft and the science," said Zanzotto.
follows on the heels of sister magazine Remark
, which launched last year. A fashion title, Remark
is likewise an online affair with digital copies available for free through hosting sites like Issuu and Magcloud. While digital is the focus for now, print is a possibility for both titles in the future, said Zanzotto.
