won big at the Alberta Magazine Awards gala held March 14 in Calgary. The politics, culture and ideas mag was awarded three golds and three silvers.
Among its prizes was a gold in the Feature category, for writer Curtis Gillespie's "The Populist
," a profile of TV showrunner Hart Hanson. Its other golds were in the literary categories for Fiction and Poetry.
Also walking away with its arms full was Swerve
magazine. The weekly arts and culture publication garnered three golds and one silver. Its wins included the Alberta Story category, for "Deerfoot's Revenge
" by Jeremy Klaszus, and the Feature Design category, for art director Vishu Mahajan's work on "Double Take
Melissa Molloy was named Emerging Writer of the year for "The Accuser and Us," (download as PDF here
) her story for Profiles West
on a family's struggle with mental illness and the court system.

's Elaine Kupser won this year's Achievement in Publishing award.
