Rogers Publishing is hoping to clear up any confusion regarding a press release today stating PROFIT is going "all digital."
The confusion lies in the fact the release
actually refers to an unaffiliated website called PROFIT.ca
(which has been around since 2005) based in Ottawa, that publishes curated and original content about business. The 30-year-old PROFIT
magazine from Rogers also focuses on business (from an entrepreneurial/small business perspective).
Ian Portsmouth, publisher and editor of PROFIT (from Rogers), noted following the release, “We remain committed to serving our audience in multiple formats and venues, including print, web, mobile, tablet and in-person events.”
Tracy Andover of the Ottawa PROFIT explained in an email that "the notion of'Profit going digital' stems from the fact that more and more profit from Canadian businesses is being derived from digital processes, products and services. As such, at Profit.ca we are continuing to skew our coverage toward the digital space to reflect this overall trend in business."
Andover added the site's content is "modeled to some degree on a (Huffington Post) style of creation. Part aggregation, part out-linking/curation, part commentary and part original content."
The Ottawa PROFIT is also soon launching iOS apps
for free (while there will be some "in-app premium options" available, noted Andover.)
