The competition has magazine categories, including best magazine article, best cover and best profile article.
The finalists in the Atlantic Magazine Article category are
A Place to Think [Carol Moreira for
Nova Scotia Open to The World];
Justice Delayed [Jon Tattrie for
Halifax Magazine];
The Circle of Life [Sara Jewell for
Saltscapes Magazine].
Finalists for Best Cover are
Atlantic Business Magazine [March 2011,
The Rise of Generation Plus];
East Coast Living [Winter 2011,
Back to Life];
Halifax Magazine [Oct. 2011,
Going to the Big Leagues].
In Best Profile, the nods go to
The Beautiful Dreaming of Wadih Fares [Alec Bruce for
Atlantic Business Magazine];
Snowbird by Birth [Jack MacAndrew for
Saltscapes Magazine], and
Brain Candy [Jessica Burns for
Halifax Magazine].
In the arts and entertainment category, open to any medium,
Atlantic Business Magazine was nominated for
Stage Fright by Rob Antle, while
CBC Maritime Magazine was selected for
Fourteen Angels by Jacques Poitras.

Robert Warner, editor-in-chief of
Brunswick News and
CBC Moncton Information Morning Host Jonna Brewer will be the MCs for the Atlantic Journalism Awards gala dinner and awards event scheduled for the Delta Fredericton on May 5.
CBC television's national reporter, Ian Hanomansing, will be a guest speaker.
The Atlantic Journalism Awards is also hosting a
Symposium on Journalism Education in Atlantic Canada on May 4-5, 2012 at the same venue.
