People in Publishing: Changes at St. Joseph, The Grid, TC Media
Gary Campbell, a veteran of St. Joseph Media where he last served as executive producer, is leaving the post to pursue other projects.
During his time with St. Joseph, Campbell also served as art director and "web guru in residence" for
Quill&Quire magazine, while moving on to the digital team where he became (in the words of Andrew Crane, St. Joseph's vice president of operations), "an inseparable element of the success that
Torontolife.com has enjoyed."
"I plan to spend the next few months pursuing personal projects that leverage my digital design talents as a maker of innovative things. I also plan to continue developing my
Aggregation magazine project. Indeed, issue #7 is in the works now," Campbell said in a statement.
MM&D, a Business Information Group supply chain magazine based in Toronto, has a new editor in
Carolyn Gruske, who joins
MM&D following a long freelance career contributing to magazines including
Today's Trucking and
World of Wheels.
Michael Power, previously editor of
MM&D and BIG's
Purchasingb2b, is now exclusively the editor of the latter title.
Lianne George of
The Grid (formerly
Eye) has been promoted to editor of the free Toronto weekly magazine after serving as deputy editor. Editor-in-chief Laas Turnbull noted George "played a huge role in the relaunch, and has been guiding the paper on a day-to-day, week-to-week basis with great skill, creativity and poise."
TC Media has appointed
Raymond Ostor to general manager, national portals, within TC Media's digital solutions group in Toronto. Prior to this post, Ostor was vice president, digital media for Sun Media (Quebecor).
In the world of auditing, BPA's
John Brooks has been named the Western Fulfillment Management Association (WFMA) president. Brooks, who is BPA's director of marketing services, was named director of WFMA in 1997 and has served as treasurer and vice president. The WFMA's mandate is to connect the "audience development" community through webinars and networking events. CCAB is the Canadian arm of BPA Worldwide.
ABC has hired
Eric T. John as vice president of ABC Interactive. He will manage the development of ABCi products and services, while overseeing operations. John was most recently head of marketing at AdKnowledge with stints at Nokia, Yahoo! and DoubleClick.
