Transcontinental launches new healthy living magazine
Transcontinental Media has announced the launch of a "dynamic new media brand" called Juice, with the tagline "Healthy living, made delicious."
The brand will be delivered across multiple platforms launching across English Canada in April 2012, including six issues per year of a full-size print magazine; a website; a daily and weekly e-newsletter; social media presence; and a "comprehensive tablet experience".
Aimed primarily at women - the "household decision-makers" - Transcontinental Media's Juice will "inform, inspire and enable consumers to achieve their healthy eating and lifestyle goals, delivering the right information in an engaging and direct way. "
Editorial content will be developed, produced and distributed by Transcontinental Media, "with the focus on providing consumers with delicious recipes and meal ideas, the latest nutrition news as well as practical health and financial advice."
Transcontinental will be publishing the magazine in relationship with Loblaw Companies Limited, which will drive the magazine's initial circulation base of more than 400,000 copies, composed of mailed copies to a large selection of Loblaw's customers. It will also be available for purchase at select Loblaw banner stores and other retailer newsstands.
Transcontinental Media says it reaches over seven million women readers in Canada, "which makes it the leader in reaching women in the country. "
It's quite sad when people express enthusiasm about a new magazine launch and some Anonymous person comes on here and jumps down their throat. For the record, Transcon has nothing on their job board relating to Juice magazine as of yet. People are simply asking where to go to become part of what sounds like a promising new publication. When did our industry become so catty? MEOW!

Every now and them I have to scratch my head and wonder what ever happened to this business. To those who have commented, asking where they should apply, here's a suggestion, READ THE ARTICLE! What kind of a fact-finding writer are you, when you can't figure it out, when it's right in the article! C'mon folks, this is not an industry for laziness.

Is Juice looking for freelancers? How can we apply?

When I saw the title, I immediately thought it was a magazine for 'juiced-up' bodybuilders!!!

While we encourage discussion, please keep it to the topic - which is Juice. Thank you

Jaded -- I second your excitement. Any magazine that replaces Viva is all right by me!

To Jaded: Don't feel bad. The publisher company who published VIVA was, and is still run by a person who has taken many people for a ride. Sad, but their type survive in the current economy, where good people are just looking to survive.

Fantastic news. I love hearing about new magazine launches. Anyone know if they have the editorial team in place yet? (Let's hope that Loblaw did dump Viva. I had a terrible experience working for that magazine early in my career.)

I guess they dumped VIVA magazine, not that anyone ever read or saw it.

This sounds like a pretty strong competitor to RDMedia's Best Health Magazine.
