ABC reports overall circulation, paid subscriptions down in first six months of 2010
The Audit Bureau of Circulation’s recently released report on circulation and subscription numbers for Canadian magazines reveal lower numbers in both areas in the first six months of 2010.

Total paid subscriptions are down by almost 5.6%, to about 5.2 million copies versus the same period in 2009. Overall circulation is down almost 5.4%, to 6.6 million copies.

Rogers-published Hello! Canada and Maclean’s were among the few magazines which posted positive results in the first six months of this year. Hello! Canada had an almost 11% increase in total circulation relative to the same period last year. Maclean’s posted 2% growth.

U.S. magazines also had lower numbers in the first half of 2010, with newsstand numbers down 5.63%. That is however a modest decline compared to the 12.4% drop for the same period in 2009.
