Trade Magazine Ad Pages Fell Nearly 30 Percent Last Year [Folio]:
Folio reports b-to-b magazines were also affected in the advertising fallout that hit consumer titles in 2009. Advertising pages for trade magazines declined 28.6 percent compared to 2008, according to American Business Media’s most recent Business Information Network numbers.

Ad Spending Dropped 12% in 2009, but Things Are Looking Up [Advertising Age]:
Advertising Age reports on numbers from Kantar Media that say overall ad spending fell 12.3% in 2009, triple the rate of decline from 2008. Good news came in the fourth quarter of 2009, which saw almost all media improve its performance from earlier in the year.

A Peek at an Interactive Magazine for the Apple iPad

The New York Times has a preview of VIVmag’s interactive Ipad version, which it plans to release next month. Similar to the Wired video, Viv is going to offer touch, video and other hands-on experiences, according to the article.
