Canadian Newsstand Awards finalists announced
Thirty-six magazines, ranging from the small-circulation title Western Sportsman to extra-large-circulation Canadian House and Home, have been named finalists for the eighth annual Canadian Newsstand Awards/Grand prix d’excellence en kiosque. The winners will be announced at a special reception this October. Details on the reception to come.

 






Mike Hughes, national marketing manager for Transcontinental Media, will also be presented with the prestigious Newsstand Marketer of the Year, recognizing an individual who has demonstrated passion and innovation for a newsstand project in 2008. Hughes won amongst a record number of nominees and will also be honoured at the reception.

Winning magazines in most categories receive $3,500 each in credits towards promotional programs at newsstands owned by HDS Retail. The winner in the Small Magazine Category wins $1,000 in credits, plus $500 cash. All finalists will be presented certificates at the reception.

Partners of the Canadian Newsstand Awards 2009 include: HDS Retail, Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC), Circulation Management Association of Canada (CMC), and Masthead.
