Canadian Newsstand Awards call for entries
Magazines big, medium and small are invited to enter their best covers from last year into the 2009 Canadian Newsstand Awards/Grand prix d’excellence en kiosque. The competition is open to all English- and French-language Canadian magazines, with $15,000 worth of promotion credits for HDS Retail-owned available to be won.

Magazine entries are reviewed by a panel of judges that includes a distributor, retailer, circulation manager, editor and art director. They look at a number of criteria for each entered issue, including total newsstand sales, sell-through percentages, newsstand promotions, and overall cover appearance. Entrants compete in four categories, based on circulation size from small to extra-large.

 



The awards also recognize an individual as the Newsstand Marketer of the Year, selected from mailed-in nominations.

Last year’s winners include Toronto Life, Hello!, Vancouver, and This Magazine. Glenn Morgan, president and CEO of Coast to Coast Newsstand Services Partnership, was named Newsstand Marketer of the Year.

The entry deadline for this year’s Newsstand Awards is Friday, June 26. Winners will be announced at a special reception to be held in the fall.
