Double Issue Tumble Cover Rocks!

The December 2012 issue of Chatelaine sure looks successful to me. Super thick at 300+ pages, and look at them having fun with those covers! Love it.

Elegant, sophisticated, packed with benefits and having fun too…these covers are sure to get fabulously merchandised by retailers who know a winner when they see one.

The “Special Double Issue “tumble” cover: One side features yuletide style and holiday health. Flip the issue over, and a second cover leads into a whole new edition on festive food and doable decor,” says the press release.

Chat Art Director - Take a compliment when you get it. After many years in this biz, I know, unlike criticism and complaints, they come very rarely. As a follow up, what are the chances of a feature, telling us how you kept the accountants from screwing up the whole thing? So often great ideas and creative die due to those who see only dollars vs. quality.

Easy now, Steve J., your gushing is embarrassing us both. But thank you. My only wish is that we could have saved the cover line: Eat, Drink, Not Gain Weight. It make bad sense. No actual it grammar has.

When creative like this comes along, and is allowed to see daylight, it's like a solid breath of fresh air. THANK YOU Chatelaine. I'm sure the number crunchers had to be kept away, but 300 pages ???? Congratulations on reminding us how to publish properly. WELL DONE!

Agreed, sure to be a hit. Both day and night covers manage to maintain a certain elegance with deft use of colour and well focused imagery, both covers are equally successful, often tumble covers have a clear lead with a support second. And to boot there are plenty of sells on the covers. A lesson for many others to look at. Well done Chatelaine.
